Introduction

I’m not going to lie, I’m a little obsessed with sustainability. In my home, there’s no such thing as “good enough” when it comes to being eco-friendly. For example, all of my furniture is made from reclaimed wood (with the exception of a few pieces that are new and made from sustainably harvested wood). But even though I’ve always sought out sustainable furniture options when shopping for my home, lately I’ve been looking into other ways to make things greener.

My latest purchase? A leather couch! It was actually an impulse buy at the store—I hadn’t planned on buying anything that day and certainly didn’t expect myself to walk out with something so luxurious (and expensive!). But after talking it over with my husband and realizing that this particular couch would be nicer than any other piece we could get for less money elsewhere (and still be eco-friendly), we decided to go ahead and buy it. Now our living room looks even more amazing than before!

I just bought a leather couch.

You can buy it online.

It’s made in the USA, by a family owned business that has been crafting leather furniture for over 30 years.

It’s eco-friendly, as all materials used in production are 100{b49b303a7b364ea97526b80c05df49c778ed6cb5d57b8fb402e2f2bd6d1200d4} natural and renewable resources.

It’s durable, with handcrafted details that ensure longevity of use and beauty for years to come.

The couch is comfortable enough to nap on!

I’ve always had eco-friendly furniture, but this one is even greener than the rest.

Green furniture is a good idea. This is because it’s better for the environment, and it’s also better for your health. Many people have been concerned with the amount of toxic chemicals in their homes, especially when they have young children or pets that could be harmed by these chemicals. By using green furniture, you can keep your family safe from harmful materials while still having stylish pieces in your home!

There are several ways to make sure that your furniture is eco-friendly:

  • If possible, purchase items made from recycled materials such as wood scraps or plastic bottles (these items will usually be labeled ‘recycled’).
  • Look for pieces made out of organic cotton instead of synthetic fabrics like polyester and nylon; organic cotton tends not only look nicer but last longer too!

To get rid of synthetic chemicals and make it more sustainable, it was treated with tannins from tree bark.

Tanning is the process of treating rawhide, leather and pelts with materials that preserve, waterproof, or tan them. The most common method of tanning is called “tanning”. Tanning can be done in a variety of ways; all involve removing the hair from animal hide and then soaking it in an acidic solution (typically lime) to prevent putrefaction – usually by microbes such as bacteria or fungi – while preserving its raw state. After being tanned, some hides are also dyed for coloration before they are processed into leather.[1]

Tanning can be done using vegetable products such as tree barks or fruits such as sumac berries.[2][3] In modern times, synthetic chemicals are often used during some stages of tanning; these include chromium salts such as chrome sulfate or sodium dichromate which act as catalysts for the production of soluble dyes[4].
